Broome Travel Diary

Its that time of year when my social media feed seems to be filled with tales of people travelling north for a winter escape. We were fortunate to take a few days to ourselves on either side of a wedding I photographed in Broome to enjoy some well earned R&R after a very busy summer for both me and Grant. I am incredibly lucky to be able to travel for my work. It is something I only dreamed of at one time in my life but now those dreams are reality and I always try to remember to take a moment to enjoy life and the experience of a different culture or change of pace. While I only visited Broome for the first time 5 years ago for a portrait session, it is a place that speaks volumes to me as there is a very big piece of my heart in the northern half of Western Australia. The red dirt, blue waters, clear skies and mild winter temperatures were something I took for granted as I grew up in a small mining town in the Pilbara but I appreciate them so much now.

We spent our downtime drinking the world's best ginger beer, visiting the wildlife, eating seafood at each meal and we spent plenty of time just wandering the shores of the magical Cable Beach and lingering for the sunset each night.  The perfect itinerary in Broome.
