Lyon and the Beaujolais

“The sweetness and generosity and politeness and gentleness and humanity of the French had shown me how lovely life can be if one takes time to be friendly.”Julia Child

In winter 2012 we had a student stay with us for a month from France. As soon as his family were aware of our trip to France, we were welcomed to visit and stay with his family for as long as we cared to. So it was on our first weekend in France, we boarded a train at the Gare de Lyon destined for Lyon just a quick 2 hour fast train ride away.

Lyon and the surrounding Beaujolais area were simply too beautiful for words so I will let the photographs do the talking for me. It is exactly as you'd imagine and we spent much of our time indulging in the Beaujolais wine and Lyonnaise food and it is some of our fondest memories of our trip. I think Grant would be happy with a small house in the Beaujolais perhaps attached to a small vineyard. But of course, wouldn't we all?
