I have been so excited to share this romantic couples portraits in Chelsea, London. People often ask me if I have a favourite place to photograph and my honest answer is I don’t but I think in hindsight my favourite place to shoot is somewhere new. It gives me a challenge to think differently not only about the backgrounds but also about the light which is very different in certain parts of WA, and even more different in the Northern Hemisphere.
While travelling in Europe, I met with Anika and Mitch who are currently living in London away from their home base of Perth for a portrait session around their new, temporary home. Having been in Chelsea for over a year, we spoke of their favourite restaurants and places to go on the weekend as we wandered the streets looking for picture, perfect backdrops that were quintessentially British, but also a celebration of summer and finished up at sunset at Albert Bridge which was a pastel marvel.
You might recognise Anika and Mitch from their engagement party I photographed many years ago and I was also fortunate to photograph Mitch’s sisters wedding even more recently and love that I continue to keep in touch with this beautiful couple.
