Just this week I received the latest addition to my collection which is a Portfolio Box. An adorable 7×7″ box housing 10 select images in thick, luxurious matting. I had a Rachel Zoe moment as I put it all together and quietly exclaimed, “Ba-nanas” just to myself.

I can see these boxes being perfect as a keepsake from an engagement or portrait session or even as a special gift for a parent or grandparent. They are just so perfect for understated display and even comes with a small easel to display the images. Perfect!

I remember when I first met with Rebecca and Brett almost a year ago that my that little inner voice was yelling at me “Don’t blow it!” during my meeting with them. A little warning to switch on the filter between my mind and my mouth to avoid putting my foot in it and for them to send me on my merry, crazy way. They had an amazing vision for their wedding day and their connection to each other was palpable.

Bec and Brett are my kind of people. Not only did they not think I was crazy but they booked me for their wedding just a few weeks after we met. They want to celebrate their relationships with their family’s and they want to do it in style and I am so happy to be a part of their celebration. I was beyond thrilled when I discovered they were also bringing along their newest addition, Lady, for their engagement session at Mullaloo last month. I am so looking forward to their wedding in May and getting to spend more time with them and their family’s and friends.

We ended up having their shoot in the city and up until this past weekend, I haven’t shot much in the city or in an urban landscape. I do think that this is because I have a such a connection with the earth and most of my couples have similar connections and choose a location such as the beach, a park or a field. I can see it in most of my images that there is usually an element of earth, wind, sun or water. However, as Kieran and I began to discuss their session, I was thrilled when they chose a location and environment that I haven’t shot at before and that they have a connection with. I was ready for a challenge and came away from the session feeling refreshed and alive.

Kieran and Allan, thank you so much for trusting me implicitly and I wish you all the best for your upcoming wedding and your future together. I know it holds wonderful things for you. You are beautiful

I encourage all my wedding clients to have a portrait session before their wedding to allow us to get to know each other a little better, for them to get familiar with the camera and for them to have a collection of images just a little more relaxed and intimate than what will eventuate from their wedding collection. I love the serene and relaxed feel of Annika and Tom’s collection and the fact that they trusted me implicitly to do what I do without question. I am so looking forward to their wedding later this month.

Oh, and props to Annika for still doing their session even though she had a broken foot. You would never know.

Mark and Olivia live just a few minutes from my home. I had been dying to get some of my clients in to the northern suburbs for some shoots because there are so many gorgeous locations that I drive past almost on a daily basis. Thankfully, Olivia and Mark were so accommodating and let me taxi them around a number of places for some inspiring landscapes and I am pleased to report, some beautiful images that I am very proud of. Late autumn/early winter is a great time for portraits – engagement or otherwise – because there is such variety of landscape and nature to choose from.

Their wedding in December is going to be fabulous, I just know it.
