ONE MORE

I am busy getting ready to head to Geraldton for a wedding I am photographing this weekend, but I thought I would share one more image from Cara and Chey’s uber-quick photo shoot in Dunsborough before I go.

Have a wonderful (long) weekend. Whatever you are doing be sure to give your loved ones a big snuggle and let them know how much they mean to you :)

CARA AND CHEY

This past weekend I was fortunate enough to spend 3 days with 4 other photographers in Dunsborough. We had all taken part in Jesh de Rox’s workshop last November and decided to have a getaway to just shoot from the heart and spend some time together. I appreciated this so much because I have found that when you find you can turn your passion into your career you still need to take the time to still ignite that passion for no other reason than your own desires. We experimented with a few techniques and equipment and I managed to shoot some film which I am excited to develop in the near future.

We had a very courageous couple join us for an engagement session in Dunsborough and Busselton for us to experiment with. Despite the wild weather and 5 crazy photographers vying for prime position, Cara and Chey were absolute stars and kept their composure remarkably well. I was fortunate to have a moment to test out a tilt shift lens and had a lot of fun with it. Considering the workshop was named Tilt Shift and Tiaras, it only seemed fitting.

A big thank you to Arlene Bax, Samm Blake, Kirsty Aksentiew and Lauren Waye for their never ending generosity and openness. I appreciate it more than I can say.

I HAVE A WEAKNESS

Without fail at nearly every session I will take an image of feet. Bare feet. Dirty feet. Tiny little toes. Feet in designer shoes. There is something so intimate about them that I love. It could be a child’s feet and legs covered in sprinkles of sand or in this case, the miracle how each time without fail we are born with 10 tiny toes and 10 tiny fingers. I do promise though that this particular fetish only exists when I have the camera in my hands :)

TWITTER

I really do not know what I did with my spare time before social networking.

First there was the blog and then I succumbed to the evils of Facebook after much protesting. It felt like all the cool kids were doing it so really, I should too but I resisted. Recently my Mum mentioned to me how as a child and then a teenager I marched to the beat of my own drum and despite peer pressure usually just did what I wanted to. However, despite my resisting and proclamations that I do not need social networking, I have been converted and not a day goes by now without some form of social networking online.

After Facebook of course came the micro-blogging phenomenon of Twitter. Again, all the cool kids were doing it and at first I really didn’t understand why I would want to know what someone was doing at 11.21pm or why they would want to know what I was doing. I am simply not that interesting. However, I succumbed to the peer pressure for one of the few times in my life and it has evolved to the point that I am a little ashamed to say I have way too many moments when I think to myself “I am sooooo twittering this”. Thankfully for those currently following me I don’t tweet them all.

However, from a business perspective social networking is so beneficial when communicating with my past, current and future clients and building relationships with other photographers and professionals in my industry that I wouldn’t be without it.
