boys and hair

Back in December, Liam came and stayed with us and while he was here he took a trip to the hairdressers with Grant and Ben. When he came back I couldn’t resist a quick portrait – he is seriously too adorable and was rocking his mohawk like nobody’s business.

Remember how he looked the last time he came and stayed just a month before? Well apparently he is still a fan of a short front because just a few days later he took the scissors to his hair and cut his little mohawk front. Boys will be boys I guess :)

Nyaree and Toby – Wedding

I was so excited when Nyaree contacted me months ago asking if I would photograph her wedding. I grew up with Nyaree years ago when we were just kids so I was humbled and flattered that she had thought of me after seeing my portrait work.

I knew the day was going to be gorgeous but unfortunately for us we managed to get a 42 degree day. However, despite this Nyaree and Toby kept their cool and you wouldn’t know from the photos the intense amount of heat the day produced. They had a beautiful ceremony on the foreshore at Point Walter and committed themselves to each other along with their daughter Stella, in front of their family and friends.

Enjoy Thailand Toby and Nyaree!

Boudoir

Well, if you think my engagement was a great way to start 2009, just a few days into the year I shot a beautiful boudoir session for one of my brides.

She contacted me after seeing another very courageous woman do something similar so I got to organising and we made it happen just 2 weeks before her wedding and we managed to have her books ready just in time to give to her groom (from what I hear he absolutely loved them!). While boudoir is very new to me as a photographer, many brides are doing these shoots as pre-wedding gifts for their husbands-to-be and as a result of this even more women are simply doing them just for themselves – which is beyond wonderful and I can only imagine how empowering it must be!

I had so much fun at this shoot. A big thank you to Joanna Ferguson (0418 154 874) for hair and makeup services and her invaluable assistance.

I am sensitive to the fact that not everyone out there wants to see boudoir images, so if this is you feel free to skip over this post. Otherwise, simply click MORE below to view the rest of the images. Oh and lastly, I wouldn’t publish these images without full permission from my courageous and beautiful client – which I do have :)

andrea and rina

Andrea contacted me to arrange for a portrait session for mother’s ___ birthday (I’m not telling how old :) . I am starting to think about my own mother’s ’significant’ birthday coming up this year and how to really spoil her. Andrea set the bar pretty high with trips to the day spa, a hair and makeup session and a birthday dinner amongst other things. What can I say? Rina is totally worth it.

Happy birthday Rina :)

Portraiture and Wedding Collections 2009

I am pleased to announce that collections for portraits and weddings for 2009 are complete.

This year I have so much more to offer my clients as I have made some big changes in my personal life. This year I won’t be returning to my “other job” that has paid the bills for so long but am now working as a full-time photographer. My office is almost complete, I am finding my groove with a new routine (having Foxtel installed today is not helping) and getting ready for a fabulous year. All of this means more time for my clients, a faster turn around for products and prints and I have sourced some beautiful new products both locally and internationally that I will show you later.

Of course one of the other big changes is that I am now offering wedding portraiture in addition to my lifestyle portraiture of family’s, children and dogs. I have decided to accept only a limited number of wedding bookings each year in order to give 110% of myself to my portrait and wedding clients – taking a quality over quantity approach. With this in mind, it is a first come, first served situation and unbelievably I have only 5 availabilities for weddings remaining for 2009 at this stage.

The website has been updated with new galleries in the portfolio too and further information about lifestyle and wedding portraiture so head on over and have a look.

So please give me a call or send me an email so we can book in your session or event and I will send you my beautiful new digital booklets – gorgeous to look at and good for the environment :)

a proposal

I love Christmas morning. That moment of anticipation just before your head hits the pillow on Christmas Eve and then all of a sudden its morning – usually 6am with a child whispering in your ear if its time to get up.

This year it was just Grant and I by ourselves. We realised that this was quite possibly our first ever Christmas alone and while I missed the kids laughter and oohing and aahing over their gifts, it was nice to wake up slowly and just revel in the moment.

As we exchanged gifts, I thought I was on a winner with the iPod shuffle and DVD collection I gave to him – I knew he’d love them. I felt so spoiled when Grant gave me a beautiful pair of earrings. Then when he appeared with another small box that wasn’t from under the tree my heart skipped a beat. He had a huge grin from ear to ear as he handed me the box and waited patiently for me to open it.

The iPod kind of pales in comparison doesn’t it?

pool side

Summer at my parents house is always spent poolside. Its so relaxing and comfortable and is such a great way to wind down during the summer holidays.

We have the usual entertainment of kid throwing, lazy roasts in the weber, lots of laughter and of course lots of beverages to help cool down. Its the best way to watch the summer days roll by.

summer days

I thought the kids were due for an updated group shot. The last one they had together was when Liam was a baby. Here he is with Ben and Phoebe able to hold his own because he’s a little boy now too. This image kind of sums up summer days at their grandparents house. Fun, laughter, carefree.
