talk about exciting!

I had a couple more favourites I wanted to share from my latest engagement session. These guys did so well to just mosey on down to the river front and get busy. Its never easy in public, let alone with a camera on you. I love how they relaxed each other.

Oh, they booked me for their wedding in January too. Yes! I can’t tell you how excited I am for this opportunity. From what I know already about the big day its going to be something really special. I think I can safely say that they will have the most dedicated wedding photographer in the world on their wedding day. I can’t wait!

indulgence

I’ve never had much of a sweet tooth. I always preferred savoury snacks and chips to chocolate and ice cream or lollies.

That is until I quit smoking 2 years ago. All of a sudden I have this appreciation for sweet stuff. I’m not sure why it is. In particular I now have a weakness for good, dark chocolate. There is nothing I love more than a big glass of cold milk and some dark chocolate. Far out! My favourite thing used to be a bourbon and diet coke and a cigarette. Times change, huh.

Anyway, the best brand I have found (that doesn’t cost a fortune) is Green & Blacks. It’s organic (which is another bonus) and their dark choc is 70%. They have a bunch of types of chocolate but my favourite is Maya which is a blend of spices and dark chocolate. To die for!

To indulge my chocolate obsession further, Green & Blacks have these beautiful baby bars on the shelves now. Just 35g each they are much too cute to bypass. Have a look in the organic or health food section next time in you’re in the supermarket. Even if you don’t like dark chocolate, their milk chocolate is so much better than a generic Cadbury bar.

Just buy one of each – have a little taste testing at home :)

sweetness

There is something about the bareness of a baby’s head. I love how her hair is so much darker in the centre but almost non-existent in the front. How her head is almost perfectly molded to fit in the corner of your arm (is there a name for the inner gap opposite your elbow?). I love how you can fit her head in the palm of your hand. Honestly, what’s not to love?

It must be my admiration for Julie Harris shining through and her obsession with the back of babies heads :)

did you notice?

Did you? I made a few changes around here recently and just finished the changes over at my website today. There is the new branding that I love so much. The earthy brown and creams are so soothing and I can’t help but feel calmed and relaxed when I look at the new sites. I hope my clients feel it too.

Go on over to the site and check it out. There is a bunch of new images in the galleries too. The new pricing is coming into effect from now and I have some great packages and products on offer. I’ll be showcasing some on the blog shortly.

Be sure to get in contact with me to get a pricing brochure and book a session. The leaves are finally falling and winter will be here in full force shortly but I am looking forward to some bright wollens and scarves and beanies on my clients coming up. I love the cooler months.

On a more personal note, spare a thought for little Lily. She had her operation on her eye last Friday as I mentioned, but she had to go back in on Monday to have it done again. On Sunday night all of a sudden she was frantically scratching at her eye (which she couldn’t reach because of the bucket) and we discovered that the skin graft had come loose. So it was back in to the vets on Monday to redo it and they have now sewn her eye shut. Yep – you heard right. Its been sewn up.

My poor little girl. She’s getting lots of chicken and cuddles to try to make up for it all. In honour of Lily, here is an old favourite of mine of my little girl.

the first born

This is Zep, the first born of my brother and his wife. I thought he deserved his own post considering the amount of attention his new sister is getting.

Isn’t he sweet?

filled with love

Although I am not officially a “mother” I did get some lovely mothers day gifts when the day came around. I got another gift on Thursday from Phoebe that she had been working on at school and only just completed.

It’s such a beautiful gesture that I appreciate so much. She gave me a box that she decorated and had a poem attached. The poem reads:

This is a very special gift that you can never see
The reason it’s so special is, its just for you from me
Whenever you are lonely, or even feeling blue,
You only have to hold this gift and know I think of you
You never can unwrap it, please leave the ribbon tied
Just hold the box next to your heart, it’s filled with love inside

buckethead

Poor little Lily had an operation yesterday. Remember the issues she has been having with her eyes and the conjunctivitis, etc? Well a week ago we took her back to the vet because it still wasn’t right and we were concerned that she might be getting cataracts.

Apparently there was a build up of pressure behind her eye which essentially tunneled its way through to the front of the eye, making the dot and cloudiness. The vet said that unless the pressure was reduced she could lose the eye.

Poor thing. When I woke at 1am this morning and heard her crying I went into the loungeroom to check on her and she was sitting on the couch almost asleep on her feet. I ended up sleeping on the lounge with her which I think made her feel better. She was tentative about moving around because she kept bumping the collar on cushions or the walls but had no problem trying to sit on my head while I tried to sleep. It was an interesting experience on the couch with 2 dogs (one with a plastic bucket over her head) and trying to sleep.

Lulu was pretty worried about her and kind of avoided her last night – unsure about what was going on.
She is much better today and she and Lulu are back to hanging out together and sleeping together.

On the plus side she’s having poached chicken for dinner which she has no problem woofing down. Lots of cuddles and kisses are on the menu too.

miss s

I don’t think I need many words to describe this little girl. You can see the wonder in her eyes and the sunlight in her hair. Little Miss S was just too cute for words.

I love looking at the world through a child’s eyes. Everything seems in technicolour and so special. Even a feather falling from the sky gives endless joy :)

lake family

Following on from the engagement photos yesterday, here are just some of my favourite family images from yesterday. Watching these guys interact together was beautiful and they just seem to . . . fit. Like a glove.

We totally lucked out with the gorgeous sunset over the river and the pretty darn, good-looking family didn’t hurt either. More of their adorable little girl possibly tomorrow or the day after.

Enjoy!

engaged: nyaree and toby

Nyaree and Toby have been together since high school, about 5 years, and recently got engaged. They contacted me about 2 months ago to enquire about photographing their wedding (which was a huge ego boost) and really made me seriously consider the offer to move into the wedding photography market.

So we decided to get together for some engagement shots to see how we worked together and we will then see where it leads us. They also have an adorable 18 month old daughter who also came along for the afternoon and of course some photographs.

It is evident how much they care for each other and their daughter. It is an honour to be able to watch a couple interact and hopefully just a little bit of the love I can see they have for each other is in my photographs for them to treasure.

So I kind of had a child/family/engagement shoot all rolled into one. I have decided to post them all separately starting with the engagement shots.

Enjoy the sneak peak guys and I hope you like them as much as I do!
