mellow yellow

I’m not much of a shoe person. I mean, I like a good shoe and really appreciate some of the workmanship and design put into the higher end range of shoes but at the end of the day I tend to chose comfort over fashion. Or just go barefoot :)

Today I found these gorgeous Keds though. They were so bright and light and fit absolutely perfectly that I just had to have them and thought I would share. Yes, they are little camels on them. I had a big joke about camel toe’s but decided to just not even go there ;)

chocolate chip

I was recently inspired by Susan of En Pointe Photography (awesome photographer from San Diego!) who seems to be just as talented in the kitchen as she is behind the camera and I thought it was high time I did some baking.

Yesterday being ANZAC Day, I decided to make some Anzac Biscuits but of course as it was on a whim, I didn’t have all the ingredients. I did however have the necessities for choc chip cookies and decided that they would be the perfect stand in for ANZAC Day.

I thought I would share some shots. And yes, they are were delicious :)

possibility

In case you haven’t noticed, I am back online *happy dance*

The computer had a virus and we managed to get it back this weekend but it is not at all as it should be and infact I have installed and reinstalled Photoshop CS3 3 times today trying to get it online. I managed to install a lesser version of photoshop (elements) on to Grant’s computer but it is nowhere  near the professional level I expect to get the best images.

So I spent much of the week taking shots around the house, experimenting here and there and on Tuesday I took some shots of my newly planted winter/spring vege patch. There are lettuces, peas, cauliflower and squash and they are so tiny now but are going to be fantastic in a couple of months.

Its funny to see them so small and to know that it takes almost next to no effort for them to be fully grown.

the big 3-0

Hi everyone

Just a quick catch up note.

Yes, the big 3-0 was yesterday and passed without much fanfare. Thank you for your well wishes. I had a nice dinner out at a local pub/restaurant with my family on Sunday night and then another more intimate dinner at home with Grant and the kids last night.

I decided to head to the beach last night and sat there all rugged up in Grant’s big jumper while listening to Feist on my iPod and watching the most beautiful sunset ever. I think it might be a new tradition for all future birthdays – but perhaps next time with a bottle of Veuve Clicquot.

I was so looking forward to drawing the winner of the competition yesterday but as my computer has died its taken all of my emails with it which of course are the entries into the competition. I don’t have access to any saved emails. So I hope you will bear with me while we wait for it to be fixed or the information at least salvaged. Hopefully, by this time next week *fingers crossed*.

Have a great week!

busy times ahead

I was thinking this morning that it really is going to be a busy couple of months. This is what’s coming up in no particular order:

  • 2 portrait sessions
  • 1 engagement session
  • 2 coffee table books to be designed and sent to print
  • A concept project I want to get on camera
  • Hosting a baby shower this weekend
  • My birthday
  • A brand new addition to the Higgins clan in May (yay!!)
  • The free portrait session competition ends next Monday (get your entry in quick!)
  • Implementation of the new slideshow feature
  • Upgrading and reassessing my gear after two recent lens casualties for no apparent reason
  • Finalising of my rebranded business cards and portrait pricing and session brochure

It is going to be busy but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Have a great Thursday!

moses supposes

As I was writing the title for this post I remembered a scene from Singing in the Rain. I am a hopeless romantic and love all those old Gene Kelly movies or any old school musical for that matter.

Moses supposes his toeses are roses but moses supposes erroneously.

I love the play on words. Anyway, there was a point and it was that I took some shots of the roses at the garden we went to for Janis’ session last weekend. There are a million and one songs out there about roses but that one popped into my head.

Here are some of my favourites. And yes, I am shamlessly exploiting any photograph that will look humungous on screen with my new blog ;) Lots of big, punchy colour. I love it!
