sweeny higgins

I am trying real hard not to laugh :) but this afternoon I gave Sweeney Todd a run for his money.

I gave Lulu a little haircut this afternoon with some clippers we borrowed. She has only been clipped twice and I have never, let me stress never, clipped her before. I went a little overboard and she now almost looks like one of those hairless cats – LOL!

Here she is before the haircut began

And here are some shots of after.

She doesn’t look very impressed does she? ;) Of course the minute I let her down off the table Lily was straight onto her and the playtime began.

Sorry sweetie! I promise Mummy won’t go near the clippers again. Well, not for a couple of months anyway :)

work, work, work

You know how it goes. So much to do, so little time. That’s been my motto recently and today I finally got down and busy amongst some major editing and post processing. I have some exciting things coming up next month and right now time is my mortal enemy – there just isn’t enough hours in the day lately.

Anyway, I decided to take a little time out and thought I would show you my workspace where all said work is going on. Its nothing much, but it works and its cosy. Oh, and its not always this neat :)

Say hello to my little friend! This little black box next to the monitor is my newest purchase and is an external drive for all my stuff. Our computer was getting way too bogged down but this little baby is a whopping 500GB and it has sped the PC up and made processing much faster for me. I can’t wait to get my own little laptop though. Oh, to be independant!

Above the desk is a single shelf. It has some personal files and some of my favourite knick knacks. In the background is an image I purchased recently from The Black Apple (so is the image behind the external drive above). The glass ornament is a find from NZ last January. Its a hand blown glass kiwi and I fell in love with it immediately. I wanted something that was “New Zealand” but not typical and this fit the bill. I also got a couple of granite cavelights from the same store – you might see them in the future :) Anyway, next to them is a white shell from Hamilton Island and in front a Paua from NZ. I inadvertantly started a shell collection of our travels :)

The most important part of my workflow. My iPod. I have been listening to this all day drowning out the background noise of kids fighting, the washing machine, televisions – just focussing on my editing. In case you’re interested today was mainly Feist, Kylie, Gotye and a little bit of Stevie Wonder. A real mish mash that kept me motivated.

Fight Night!

Last night was certainly different. We all plodded along to a fight night to support Grant’s nephew, Rob, who was competing in his second Muay Thai fight.

Now, watching someone beat up on someone else within the confines of a ring while people cheer and clap from the sidelines is not my usual idea of a fun night out. However I went along with a positive attitude to give Rob support and see what all the fuss was about and was surprised at what I found. Muay Thai has a large spiritual aspect and you can see alot of respect and discipline in the fighters.

Anyway, I couldn’t help get caught up on Rob’s fight and I took a few photos. For the record Rob came a draw in his match. In 3 rounds of 2 minutes each he really fought with all he had and was so focussed. I can’t help but admire athletes – its not an easy job! He’s sporting a nice multi-coloured eye today though. He’ll have an interesting story at work tomorrow with his war wounds :) Congrats Rob!

This little guy is Snoop (yes, modelled after that Snoop). Ben was given him by his teacher who bought him in the US recently and has been allowing the students to “borrow” Snoop so long as a photo comes back of where Snoop has been and what he has done. Apparently Mr C had been wanting Snoop to attend a sporting event so Ben got to bring him along. Not the most masculine of things to bring to a fight match but Ben had him under his arm for the whole afternoon and we got a shot of him in the ring. LOL!

Feel free to leave comments! I lurve comments!

just because

I love having fresh flowers around the house. I really need to get more vases/jars to have them scattered everywhere because they fill a room with joy. I bought these, which I think are a type of paper daisy, on Saturday. So cheap, so cheerful and so colourful! I had a hard time editing them because I normally blast up the saturation but they were already saturated.

So just because, here is something very pretty for your Sunday :)
